Notes from the Heart (Email Newsletter March 31, 2018)
{350 words}
Hello loves,
There is a jar in my home filled with coins. Occasionally a $20 or $100 bill goes in. These large bills never stay long, though. They come and go, as real money tends to do. The change is the only constant.
It reminds me that change accumulates slowly, piece by piece, until one day we look and see what it has become: enough. Enough of what we need. Enough of what we don’t. Enough is enough.
March brought more change. Now we have April in which to marvel at what the wind blew to us. Or struggle against it, as you wish. But children marched and their voices were heard. Lovers struggled and snuggled, flower buds burst, and elders spoke wisdom laced with possibility. Spring arrived.
Lucia may soon have a new space in which to welcome you. An idea was planted during an early autumn breakfast date in my favorite Seattle neighborhood, Madrona. I thought about the idea a lot. Ritual night walks through those streets during the quiet of late December found me peering into retail shop windows, wondering. The dream felt years away from becoming, though. In January and February, there was stillness. Then, last week an opportunity surfaced on the precise day Equinox arrived. July or August may be when it opens. It all sounds mysterious, I know, but that is because it is still unfolding. Good surprises are like that. I hope to delight you with this one, as soon as I am able to say more.
Change is adding up.
Oh, and speaking of summertime, Issue Three looks like it will finally be printed in June. I am grateful for your patience and faith in the creative process, and in me. Three is beautiful, our best one yet.
Meanwhile, there is goodness here. Worthy of a cup of steamy coffee or fragrant tea and a few deep breaths. Worthy of lingering. Do you have dark chocolate? Maybe get some of that, too.
I am trying something new with these email notes from the heart, sharing glimpses of what inspired me or touched my heart in recent weeks. I invite you to let your creative muse brush up against these artists, their works, their voices, their words. Be sure to come away with a bit of dust from your encounter still sparkling in the sunlight on your skin.
I hope you meet April with great wide eyes, taking in all the wonder of change.
Love,
Laura
